REBRANDING DEAF & HARD OF HEARING GAMERS

PROBLEM

DeafGamersTV, the DHHG founder, originally created text as logo without any creative process. The font used was one of the college fonts which was not the right fit for a stream team. After 2 years as one of the staff, it was time to contribute to our team. Offered to volunteer to rebrand the logo.

DESIGN BRIEF

Develop a professional gaming logo with authentic Deaf/Hard of Hearing identity with a focus in spreading deaf awareness and create a safe, positive space. The goal is to recognize DHHG on Twitch, an online streaming platform, where everyone can watch a deaf streamer play a game.

SOLUTION

A concept of a "gamer" sign in American Sign Language with lines as movement. A custom typeface was created for DHH that has an invisible slant as a substitution for the word 'of' for Hard of Hearing.

Thanks to the "GAME OVER" graphic collected for inspiration, a neon glow concept was developed as a "gaming entertainment" look to the new logo. As part of the branding with neon lights, a dark gray brick background was included. A fun glowing arrow sign was created to point to the streamers that are live on the left side of the page.
